When it comes to Keith’s athletic program, participation and enthusiasm are balanced with a high level of competition. We want our students to enjoy the opportunity to compete and participate in sports, which is why we have a no cut policy.  Anyone who wants to play team sports can. In fact, on average 80% of our middle and upper
school students participate in at least one athletic team sport.

A member of the Illinois High School Athletic Association (IHSA) and a founding member of the Northern Athletic Conference, Keith offers a wide range of sports including volleyball, swimming, soccer, basketball, tennis, cross country, and golf. In addition to our team and individual sports programs, we also have a comprehensive physical education curriculum that emphasizes motor development, coordination, and basic fitness in the context of fair play and sportsmanship.

The main goal for our athletic program is for our athletes to realize their full range of potential while reinforcing the principles of self-esteem building, discipline, fair play, and tradition. Athletic participation is an integral part of education and we believe that participation in sports develops and instills the qualities of sportsmanship, character, and leadership.

Although Keith is well-known for its academics, our athletic programs have grown substantially. Since 1982, our teams have won more than 32 regional, sectional and conference championships. Most recently, our volleyball team  won three consecutive Class 1A State Championships (2012, 2013, and 2014), and our soccer team (2012) placed third at the Class 1A State Finals. Our Scholastic Bowl team, which falls under the umbrella of the IHSA, has one the Regional Championship for the past six years.

In keeping with the Principles of Best Practice for Equity and Justice, published by the National Association of Independent Schools, Keith School respects, affirms, and protects the dignity and worth of each member of the school, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender expression, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, socio-economic background or physical challenge.

Keith School acknowledges the statutes as required by Title IX of the Educational Amendments Act, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, and other applicable Illinois High School Association policies.
