An accomplished STEM teacher and teacher educator, Dennis brings more than 25 years of rich and varied experience to Keith School. A respected educator, researcher, and leader, he has extensive technology experience for both traditional and online classrooms. At the university level, Dennis has taught at Chicago State University, Northwestern University, DePaul University, Loyola University, University of Illinois – Chicago, Illinois Math & Science Academy, Mississippi School for Math & Science, and Indiana Academy for Science, Math & Humanities. In the K-12 setting, he has instructed at a number of boarding and day schools. His students have earned national recognition for robotics in an engineering design competition.
Dennis has led a variety of efforts to improve K-12 STEM education via curriculum design, instructional design, statewide assessment design, program design, and school design. He has taught professional licensure courses for science and math teachers, supervised student teachers, and led science teacher professional development. He has also developed and edited state-wide, standards-based math and science test questions for Riverside Publishing, and led efforts to implement Problem-based Learning and engineering design projects.
