Dr. Cabrera Ortega teaches AP and Dual Credit Spanish. He is currently an Associate Professor of Spanish and Classics and serves as Chair of the Department of Languages, Philosophy, Religion, and Cultures at Rockford University. He has also taught Classics and Spanish in Cuba and Spain. His most recent book, Myth and Politics in Cuba, was published in Spain in 2023. Dr. Cabrera Ortega was appointed a Visiting Associate in Hellenic Studies (2021–2022) at Harvard University’s Center for Hellenic Studies. He currently serves as President of the Illinois Classical Conference (ICC). Outside of academia, he enjoys reading, walking, traveling with his family, and attending the theater with friends.
