Ms. Caren Bertrand believes the library is more than a place to find books – it’s a space where curiosity grows, questions are encouraged and students develop the skills to become thoughtful researchers, critical thinkers, and lifelong readers. She enjoys helping students discover new interests while building the confidence to navigate an ever-changing digital world.
Ms. Bertrand earned her Master of Library and Information Science from Clarion University of Pennsylvania and her bachelor’s degree in English from SUNY Oswego. She brings extensive experience serving students and communities through school, public and academic libraries, including roles as a school librarian, technology librarian, reference librarian, and adult services librarian. Throughout her career, she has developed engaging library programs, curated collections, taught information literacy and helped learners of all ages access, evaluate and apply information effectively.
In addition to her work as a librarian, she has built a career as an editor and writer, giving her a unique perspective on literacy, communication, and storytelling. She enjoys helping students discover books they’ll love, strengthen their research and technology skills, and become confident, ethical users of information in both print and digital environments.
Whether introducing a young reader to a favorite author, collaborating with teachers on classroom projects or guiding students through new technologies, Ms. Bertrand is passionate about creating welcoming learning experiences that inspire exploration, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning.
