With more than 35 leadership, academic, and special interest organizations, Keith students find countless ways to take on new roles and grow as leaders. Through student government, academic teams, and signature experiences, students take on real responsibility and discover their own leadership style.
Students take on leadership through Middle School Student Government, the Student Activities Board, Class Officers, the Student Electoral Body, and the National Honor Society for select Upper School students.
Students bring history to life through schoolwide mock elections during midterm and presidential election cycles, a biennial Middle School trip to Washington, D.C., the Model United Nations Conference in Chicago, and a field trip to Midway Village’s Civil War Days, along with unique volunteer opportunities coordinated with a local museum.
Student-led clubs and organizations give students the chance to take initiative and lead alongside their peers.
From Preschool through Grade 12, Keith students engage in community service throughout the year, learning the value of generosity and civic responsibility. Middle School students complete 10 hours of community service annually, and High School students complete 90 hours before graduation. Examples include:
- Collecting clothing and household items for Goodwill
- Keith Campus Beautification Days, a schoolwide and community event to clean and beautify campus
- Road cleanups along Guilford Road and a second local road each year
- Annual Giving Tree, donating warm winter clothing to Rock House Kids
- Fundraising for Blood Cancer United (formerly Pennies for Patients, now Quarters for Cancer)
- Donations supporting international causes through Doctors Without Borders
- An annual Frozen Turkey Drive benefiting the Rock River Food Pantry
Every High School senior completes a Senior Project, a capstone experience reflecting their academic interests and personal growth. Working closely with a faculty adviser, each student chooses a topic, develops a proposal, and completes at least 40 hours of independent research and work before delivering a final oral presentation.
Whether leading a club, serving the community, or presenting a Senior Project, Keith students discover the confidence and character that come from making a difference.
