Second grade teacher Mrs. Gottman graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville with a bachelor’s degree in early childhood and elementary education and later earned her Learning Behavior Specialist 1 from National Louis University.
Mrs. Gottman has a background working with children of varying abilities and has specific experience working with special needs individuals. In her classroom she implements differentiated instruction based on student needs, choosing to utilize guided learning groups and work areas. She also emphasizes student engagement in community-based activities that promote citizenship and reinforce respect for people and the environment.
In addition to her time at Keith, Mrs. Gottman worked as a special education and pre-K teacher at Pecatonica Elementary School in Pecatonica, Illinois where she collaborated with school administrators, parents, and teachers to design and implement individualized education plans for students with specific needs.
Her experience supporting individuals with special needs grew during the five summers she spent working as an inclusion coach for the Rockford Park District, providing emotional and behavioral supports to participants.
Outside of Keith, Mrs. Gottman owns an interior design consultancy and works with homeowners, businesses, and events throughout the region.
